Anglian Water Infrastructure Upgrade Project
Anglian Water presented their plans to upgrade the water supply in Grasby at the Village Hall on 10th June 2026. The event was attended by a group of approximately twenty residents.
The Anglian Water team were represented by:
- Megan Sperryn – Customer Experience Specialist (main point of contact)
- Ashton Carradine – Customer Experience Specialist
- Misha Laughton – Project Engineer
- James Dunlop – Senior Engineer
- Brett Ward – Site Manager
- Rob Galbraith – Trust, the contractor delivering the works on behalf of Anglian Water
Details on the plans for this work, which will take at least 10 months to complete starting in June 2026, can be found at: anglianwaterproject.com/Grasby
Megan Sperryn will personally be updating this webpage every week throughout the project. Updates will focus on progress on site, planned traffic management arrangements, which roads we expect to be working on and when, and any changes residents need to be aware of.
In addition to the weekly website updates, Megan will also be issuing project updates by email approximately every two months. These updates will provide an overview of what has been completed, progress against the programme, upcoming works, and any key information residents need to know, including plans around the Christmas period and other significant milestones.
In terms of communication throughout the project, Megan will remain the main point of contact for residents, businesses and the Parish Council. Residents are able contact Megan directly by email (MLcustomers@anglianwater.co.uk) and she will work closely with the site team to provide updates and resolve any concerns as quickly as possible. The project webpage (link above) is the primary source of public information and will be used to provide additional communications where required.
In addition, Megan will be visiting the site personally on a fortnightly basis throughout the project. This will provide an opportunity for residents to raise any concerns, ask questions, or discuss any issues directly. These visits will also help to ensure Anglian Water maintain a good understanding of how the works are progressing and of any impacts being experienced locally.
It should be noted that the project does not include providing new water supply pipes to all areas of the village, notably the houses towards the end of Vicarage Lane and the majority of Station Road. At the current time, the water mains at these locations have not been identified as requiring replacement. The pipes on these roads are currently performing as expected and therefore not included within the scope of this investment programme. While they may be considered for replacement in the future, as part of our ongoing asset management programme, they are not scheduled for renewal as part of these works.
Due to the heavy earthworks required during the upgrade period, several properties have been identified for structural surveys to ensure the appropriate steps are taken to protect the buildings. These are:
- The Old Chapel, Main Street
- 2 Vicarage Lane
- All Saints Church, Church Side
- Reading Room Cottage, 1 Vicarage Lane
- 5 Church Side
- 15 Front Street
Following the discussion at the meeting, a further site visit has been arranged for 19 June. During this visit, the surveyor will review the village and assess whether there are any additional properties that should be considered based on local knowledge and the nature of the planned works.
Anglian Water will also be in touch with people who are considered vulnerable to make specific arrangements for their needs during the upgrade.
Any queries or requests for futher information should be made diectly via email to Megan (at the Anglian Water address provided above) or to the Parish Council via the Clerk (clerk@grasbyparish.co.uk).
